ALS Incubator FlowBox: a unique combination of cell culture hood and CO2 incubator

Working with live cells often requires not only sterile work conditions but also maintaining cells in a regulated physiological environment. The ALS Incubator Flowbox™ is a unique combination of a laminar flow cell culture hood with precise control of temperature, humidity and CO2 levels. This allows keeping cells in stable environmental conditions whilst out of the incubator and provides optimal results and reproducibility.

While originally designed for the CellCelector, the ALS Incubator FlowBox™ can be used and adapted for other instruments and workflows which require both sterility and controlled environmental conditions.

State-of-the-art laminar flow technology

The ALS Incubator FlowBox™ provides a HEPA filtered, vertical laminar airflow offering sterile working conditions within the working area of the hood. Smart air speed and exhaust control provides sterility and sample protection even when access doors are opened for sample loading and unloading.

Furthermore the system is equipped with high energy UV-C lamps allowing sterilization of all surfaces within the cabinet.

Stable and controlled environment

The ALS Incubator FlowBox provides a precisely controlled environment for sensitive cell cultures during long-term experiments or time-lapse imaging. Temperature, CO2 as well as humidity levels are maintained in real-time at set conditions within the whole working area. When used with the ALS CellCelector, the cabinet permits optimal cell viability both in source and destination plates. When used for lab-on-chip or organ-on-chip systems the whole experiment setup from pumps, tubes and liquid reservoirs to imaging equipment and the chips themselves can be placed inside the box for sterile and consistent environmental conditions of the whole experiment. As such the ALS Incubator FlowBox™ offers tremendous benefits over traditional stage-top incubator systems with their limited work area.

Increased work efficiency

The ALS Incubator FlowBox™ has been designed with ease of use and efficiency in mind. A user-friendly control panel gives you full control over all features as well as temperature and humidity levels. Sliding doors on the front and side of the box allow full and easy access to instruments and experiment setups placed inside without losing the controlled environment. All doors can be fully opened for easy cleaning, maintenance as well as the installation and removal of larger instruments or experiment setups.

The box includes a base stand where water tank, PC workstation and other accessory modules can be placed. The base stand is mounted on wheels allowing easy relocation of the whole setup within the lab.

As part of its OEM and components program ALS offers the customization of its ALS Incubator FlowBox™ for adaption to other automation systems, laboratory equipment and research projects. Through this your project or equipment can benefit from our large volume, state-of-the-art climate-controlled clean room technology and benefit from comfort and security features such as integrated door safety sensors and access to the buttons on the integrated control panel for human machine interaction. Customization options, amongst others, include custom door layouts, hypoxia features as well as additional protection and accessibility through glove modules.
